Cardiac Pacing
Temporary Cardiac Pacing

This station provides each candidate with the opportunity to practise temporary pacing on a sophisticated mannequin. Our cardiologist will guide you through the basics of pacing and allow you to take charge of the pacing model. Pace, capture and check thresholds in the safety of our work shop. This is an essential station for all general medical physicians who require the confidence to manage patients in the CCU and ITU department.

At the end of this station you will:
  1. Appreciate the indications for temporary pacing including external pacing
  2. Be confident in checking temporary pacing wires thresholds and positions
  3. Understand the basic principles of temporary wire insertion and possible complications
  4. Have been exposed to basic rhythm disturbances and be aware of management principals
