Paediatric Course Summary

Paediatric trainees may be required to perform a range of practical procedures every day.

This one- day course is essential for paediatric trainees required to perform procedures. Numbers of candidates on this course are strictly limited to allow maximum hands- on time and individual attention.

Candidates rotate around 7 stations over the course of the day, and will learn procedures including:
  1. Chest drains
  2. Umbilical vein & artery catheterisation
  3. US guided central lines (internal jugular and femoral)
  4. Arterial lines and arterial blood gas sampling
  5. Airway skills
  6. Intraosseous access
  7. Lumbar puncture (neonate, infant and child)
  8. Transferring a sick child (scenario)
